Melbourne Capital Group Joins Taman Tugu’s “Together For The Earth” CSR Initiative

On 12 September 2025, Melbourne Capital Group took a day out of the office to enjoy some fresh air and reconnect with nature as a team. As part of our ongoing CSR efforts, we spent the day at Taman Tugu Nursery in Kuala Lumpur, where we rolled up our sleeves to support their conservation initiative, Together For The Earth, and learn more about Malaysia’s natural environment.

The event was attended by the majority of our staff, along with one of our Directors, Mr Reuben Van Dijk. The purpose of the initiative was not only to fulfil our corporate social responsibility, but also to raise awareness of Malaysia’s natural heritage and encourage hands-on learning in a fun and engaging setting.

The day began with a tree planting session, led by facilitators from Taman Tugu. Our team learnt about native and endangered Malaysian tree species such as the Meranti and Jelutong, and picked up practical tips on soil composition and tree care. Everyone had the chance to plant a tree, making it an enjoyable and meaningful way to contribute to the ongoing reforestation and conservation efforts at the park.

Following the planting session, the group embarked on a forest walk, where guides shared insights into local flora and fauna, as well as the ecological importance of preserving green spaces. Along the way, we discovered fascinating facts and learnt how many Malaysian place names are derived from trees. At the end of the walk, everyone received a baby tree from the nursery to take home, encouraging continued care for nature beyond the event itself.

A highlight of the day was the enthusiasm and curiosity shown by our team. Questions flowed throughout the sessions, making the learning experience interactive and memorable. In all, the event struck a meaningful balance between team bonding and environmental education. Beyond planting trees and exploring the forest, our staff gained new insights into sustainable practices such as composting, and left with a deeper appreciation for Malaysia’s rich biodiversity.

This CSR initiative was made possible through our donation to Amanah Warisan Negara in support of Taman Tugu’s ongoing conservation programmes.
