Nick Chilver

Business Manager

I’ve lived in Thailand since 1995 and proudly call it home. I originally came to Bangkok as a teacher at St. John’s University and later transitioned into the financial planning profession. As an ex-teacher, I initially focused on the education sector, travelling extensively across the Middle East and Southeast Asia to help teachers navigate the path to retirement. Over time, my focus has expanded to include expatriates more broadly.

Planning for the future can feel overwhelming. There are no shortage of savings and investment options, and getting started is often the hardest part. As the old saying goes, “Just do it.” But once you’ve set sail, it’s vital to check the compass regularly. In my 30 years of experience, I’ve found that understanding what you’re doing and why, combined with consistent advice and regular check-ins, makes all the difference. Failing to plan really is planning to fail.

Since COVID and the rise of online meetings, I’ve been travelling much less which makes for a happier wife! Our children are now grown up, with our youngest in his final year at university in the Netherlands.

In 2006, I attended an Alpha course at Christ Church in Bangkok, which played a major role in my decision to follow Christ. Since then, I’ve become a Commissioned Colson Fellow and studied Christian Apologetics at Talbot School of Theology. I’ve been a volunteer speaker and writer for the MST Project since 2012 and continue to enjoy reading and studying theology, philosophy, and comparative religions.

These days, I’m fortunate to live by the coast. When I’m not speaking with clients, you’ll likely find me windsurfing in the Gulf of Thailand or out on my Triumph.
